Ms. Rodgers has been teaching web design courses at NVCC for over 10 years. She has built and managed different professional web sites for clients using HTML, XHTML, CSS, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Fireworks, Flash, ASP, ColdFusion, JavaScript, and more.

ITD110 Web Design I

Real world web design! This course uses online resources. No textbook is required. Instead, you will use your textbook money to purchase a domain and contract with a web host to build a real-life website. In this course you will learn:

• how to use XHTML & CSS to build web pages
  • XHTML & CSS Syntax
  • Validating your pages
  • Formatting text
  • Working with tables, lists, images, and more
  • Laying out a page with DIVs
  • Using embedded and linked stylesheets
  • Using FTP to go live with your site
• how to manage a web site on a hosted system
  • choosing and purchasing a domain name
  • choosing and contracting for web hosting services
  • setting up prebuilt scripts including Wordpress, Photo Gallery, Web Calender
  • setting up user accounts and email accounts
  • working with subdomains
  • working with secure pages

ITD210 Web Design II

Continue your real-world web design instruction in Web Design II! This course teaches you how to use Dreamweaver and other Adobe tools to build and manage websites. In this course you will

• learn how to use Dreamweaver to build websites
  • formatting text, using tables, building lists
  • laying out a page with DIVs and tables
  • working with CSS styles
  • creating and using templates
  • template resources
  • uploading your site in Dreamweaver
• gain a basic understanding of Content Management Systems and find out how they can work for you

ITP225 Web Scripting Languages

[Scheduled for Spring 2012, Wednesday evenings, Woodbridge Campus]

This course introduces students to the principles, systems, and tools used to implement Web applications. The course will provide a student with a comprehensive introduction to the programming tools and skills required to build and maintain interactive Web sites. Students will develop Web applications utilizing client-side and server-side scripting languages along with auxiliary tools needed for complete applications.
