Following the directions in the syllabus, your answer must be typed and between ¾ and 1 page in length, answer the following question:

From 1850-60 the United States underwent significant growth and conflict. After reading one of the above sets of primary source documents answer the appropriate question below.

 

  1. How did Lincoln and John Brown differ regarding opposition to slavery? How were they similar?

  2. What major idea about slavery did the Dred Scott decision solidify? How did Lincoln respond to the issues addressed in the Dred Scott decision?
