This online tutorial has been developed to assist students who are taking courses in database management whether it be for Office Applications courses in Access or in basic electronic filing systems courses. This tutorial will cover the basic aspects of Microsoft Access which will take you from raw data to creating databases and running queries and finally creating reports which will display your findings.

Let's begin with understanding databases. The scenario that will be used to illustrate the use of databases will involve keeping track of baseball cards. Brandon, an avid collector of baseball cards, needs to organize the cards so that he can readily see the cards he owns as well as the monetary value of each card. By using a database, Brandon will be able to update his inventory as well as update the price of each card.
