IST 100 - INTRODUCTION TO
INFORMATION SYSTEMS (3 CR.)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Introduces students to general
concepts of computer information systems. Presents terminology and effects of
computers on daily life. Discusses available hardware and software as well as
their applications. Exposes students to the system development process. Lecture
3 hours per week.
GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE
This course is designed to
introduce students to general information processing concepts and terminology.
The course will provide students with the necessary technical background to
better understand the everyday computer applications that surround them and also
to provide a foundation for other IST courses.
ENTRY LEVEL COMPETENCIES
Students must be able to read
and write at the college level.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon
completion of the course the student will be able to:
