AST 141 - WORD PROCESSING I (3 CR.)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Teaches creating and editing documents, including line and page layouts, columns, fonts, search/replace, cut/paste,
spell/thesaurus, and advanced editing and formatting features of word processing software.  Lecture 3 hours per week.

GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE

This word processing course is designed to familiarize the student with word processing applications on the microcomputer

ENTRY LEVEL COMPETENCIES

Prerequisite is AST 101 - "Keyboarding I" or equivalent.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to:

    1. demonstrate the production of a document on the microcomputer
    2. proofread, spell check, preview, and print business documents

Teaches advanced software applications. Lecture 3 hours per week.

GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE

This word processing course is designed to provide the student with intermediate software applications on the microcomputer.

ENTRY LEVEL COMPETENCIES

Prerequisite AST 141 - "Word Processing (Specify Software)" or equivalent or division approval.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to:

    1. create tables and indexes

    2. create borders, text art, and clip art
    3. merge documents
    4. sort  alphabetically and numerically
    5. create and apply styles
