Class attendance is worth 60 points. A student is allowed 1 excused absence.

If students have work related conflicts, they will advise the instructor in writing (use form provided), accompanied by a letter from the employer or copy of travel orders for all class absences. This will be done in ADVANCE. STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL MATERIAL COVERED DURING THEIR ABSENCES. They are encouraged to make arrangements w/ their classmates PRIOR to travel to acquire missed material. They are also responsible for missed exams and quizzes during work related or personal emergency absences. Personal emergencies are limited to death of student or immediate family member (documented by obit) and TREATED (documented by medical facility) illness/injury of student or immediate family member (immediate family member = parent, sibling, spouse, child or IRS dependent). If a student misses a quiz for another reason, the grade for that quiz will be 0. Students who will be absent for an exam will arrange to take the exam prior to the exam class, but no later than the week after the exam class. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN A ZERO GRADE for the exam. Students who miss ANY roll call during class will be credited w/ ˝ an absence. Contributions to the class will be considered in determining the final grade. Students who must have the instructor's signature for a W grade will provide written justification for the W. A student wishing to withdraw must do so via an NVCC withdrawal form. Failure to do so may result in an F final grade. Students who have a DOCUMENTED disability per the American Disabilities Act (ADA) that may impact on their performance must advise the instructor at the outset of the course. FB Summer 08.
