Course Syllabus
 

I. COURSE OBJECTIVES:

Students will learn the rules of correct thinking and the methods in the determination of the nature of inference or argument.
 
 

II. COURSE TEXTBOOK:

Introduction to Logic by Irving Copi. MacMillan. Tenth Edition.
 
 

III. COURSE CALENDAR: (subject to change)

First half of the semester
Language and Aristotelian Logic: Chapters 1,2,7 and 8.

Second half of the semester
Deductive Logic, Truth Tables and Method of Deduction:Chapters 10,11 and 12.
 
 

IV. GRADING: (subject to change)

(1) Three to four exams on Introductory Chapters,Syllogism, and Truth Tables.

(2) Final exam on Method of Deduction (50% of grade)

(3) Absence of approximately 25% of actual class time

results in no credit for the course. Please check

after class with instructor if you come to class late.

(4) Participation required. A student is expected to complete homework assignments so as to respond in

class and perform well on extra-credit quizzes.
