PROGNOSTIC  KATE'S  STORY

Assess your understanding of this passage

I can't understand why certain people are so upset about sex on television.  They act like we're all going to turn into sex addicts.  Don't they know we are not what we watch?  For example, there are at least two dozen channels with the news on all day; but, most people are totally unaware of current events. There are at least a dozen channels with educational programming; but, we're not getting any smarter.  And, there are at least a half dozen channels with Christian programming; but, there’s no increase in the number of people going to church.  Sex on television is not the problem!  The problem is the prurient people in the world trying to tell everyone else what to do.  They’re haters!  They don't like certain shows and they've decided no one should be able to watch them.  They think it should be their way or the highway.  If we don’t keep them out of our living rooms, we are going to lose our basic rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.  I can see it now. If these schismatic groups that complain about television get their way, soon they will be telling us what time to get up in the morning, what time to go to bed, when to eat, what to eat and where to go on vacation.   These people are not the majority and in America the majority rules. The majority is casting their votes with their remote control boxes and their dollars.  They are watching Sex in the City on television and if they’re not watching it on television, they’re buying it on video.  I don’t have time for haters.  What we need to do is tell the haters to go back to wherever they came from before it's too late – Steve!
