Some anonymous colleague nominated me for a "Super Prof" award this spring.

After a year off in 2010, I was honored to be nominated again for Faculty of the Year for the Annandale campus in 2011.

In 2010, the Annandale campus of NOVA had the most nominees, which means that competition is stiff for the top prize, but also that we are all lucky to be surrounded by exemplary colleagues. From left to right: Dick Semmler, math; Callan Bentley, geology; Reva Savkar, chemistry; John Pluta, biology; Zenaida Bodwin, I.T.; Dick Pellerin, math; Pat Daron, biology; Jill Mitchell; accounting; Pat Deavers, developmental English; William Kinsella, history; Paul Fitzgerald, biology (the winner!); and John Weidner, math.

For the third year in a row, I was honored to be nominated for Faculty of the Year for the Annandale campus in 2009. Again, Annandale had the greatest number of nominees of all of NOVA's campuses, and the MSE Division had the greatest number of nominees within the Annandale pool. I was actually away on a field trip the evening of the awards ceremony, but I've photoshopped myself in to this image of the Annandale nominees. I'm in the middle row, far left, next to the winner, Brian Leffler (American sign language)!

The Golden Apple is awarded annually to four faculty on the Annandale campus. The Student Government organizes the award, which is voted on by students. I was honored to receive the Golden Apple for the 2006-2007 academic year.
