General Elements of Film Adaptation
     * * * fidelity * * *

Films based on written texts are almost always judged according to their faithfulness to the original.   How often have you heard someone comment, "The book was better than the movie."  Or even, "The book is always better than the movie."

This comparison is too often an oversimplification which fails to account for the complex distinctions of each medium.  The concept of fidelity takes into account what is well translated in the two texts  BLAH BLAH BLAH
