STATEMENT ABOUT WHY I TEACH WHAT I TEACH

Literature and the arts are among the deepest and lasting expressions of human aspirations. Enhancing others' awareness through my teaching about our Western heritage, past and present, enriches all of us in our common endeavor to understand more fully what humans throughout the ages have felt has made life meaningful.

WHAT I AM TEACHING DURING THE FALL 1999 SEMESTER

English 135 - Applied Grammar (a college-level course on English syntax)

English 241 - American Literature (from Colonial times to the Civil War)

Humanities 201 - Survey of Western Culture (the Ancient, Medieval, and Early Renaissance Worlds)
