The site plan for the Stone Carving Certificate Program Web Page consists of eight sections. The Student Photo Gallery will display a variety of photos of past and current students with their stone carvings. I am photographing the progress of students during the Spring '02 semester from the beginning stone to, hopefully, the finished project. Some students spend many semesters on one carving. This site will be updated periodically. Chronology of Stone Carving will list the history of stone carving and display examples from the Prehistoric to Modern era. I will have links to various stone carving sites incorporated into the text. Preservation Agencies will list the firms associated with the care and preserving of stone carvings, monuments, and buildings. Working Stone Carvers will list the active stone carvers in the trade. This will help students identify the employment opportunities while hopefully communicating with someone in the field. Tools of the Trade will list the various quarries, types of stone, and tools available to the student. This site is becoming more necessary as stone carving tool businesses in the Washington DC area are closing. Journals and Associations will list the publications and groups available to the student in the stone carving field. Curriculum will list the courses required to obtain a certificate in the Stone Carving Program. This page will also link to the stone carving faculty. All of these sections will have to be updated periodically to keep it fresh and current. |
