Prerequisites.  Passing a proficiency exam and either MTH152 (functions, combinatorics, probability, statistics, algebraic systems), MTH163 (pre-calculus:  college algebra; matrices; algebraic, exponential, and logarithmic functions); or MTH182 (logic, counting, probability, statistics, mathematics of finance).  Else Division permission.  You're also expected to have the study skills taught in SDV100.

Course Text.  Elementary Statistics (8th Edition) by Bluman (e-copy is at www.CourseSmart.com).  A copy is found in our campus library reserves.  Use another text at your own risk (you'll be on your own).

Calculator.  We will use the TI-83 (or the equivalent TI-84) but if you use another device or text, then do so at your own risk.  Those who want to use the TI-89 should see me.  See Shared Links for rental and purchase options.    

Preparation Free tutoring is available in the Math Lab (AA161) and addresses only what's in the text.  Students must firmly grasp the above prerequisites but if not:
