I was born in Taiwan and grew up in Kaoshiung, a southern industrial
city of Taiwan. I attended Tamkang College of Arts & Sciences and received
my B.S. degree in 1966. I then spend two years, at my alma mater, as a
teaching assistant in the mathematics department. I came to the U.S. as
a graduate student in mathematics at Texas Christian University where I
received my Ph.D. in mathematics in 1974. The title of my dissertation
was "On the equation
".
From 1974 to1975, I was an assistant professor of mathematics at the University of Pittsburgh. Later, from 1986-1988, I taught mathematics at Montgomery College , Maryland. I've been teaching at Northern Virginia Community College since 1988 and this will be my 17th year at the Alexandria Campus. As a professor of mathematics, I taught most of the courses offered by our department. I like to experiment technology in class.
