You can use Microsoft PowerPoint to create a storyboard and save it as either a gif or a jpg image file.
There are two ways to create a storyboard in PowerPoint:
  • You can use Microsoft Organization Chart
  • You can use the Drawing Toolbar

Use Organization Chart

To access MS Organization Chart in PowerPoint:
  • Open a new presentation in PowerPoint.
  • Choose a blank slide.
  • Choose Insert, Picture, Organization Chart from the main menu.
Insert, Picture, Organization Chart
A space in the form of a resizable box with little rectangles on the edges will appear on your workspace. Click on that space and MS Organization Chart will open on your monitor screen.

Create your storyboard by following the directions in the article Create a Storyboard with MS Organization Chart.

Use the Drawing Toolbar

You can use the drawing toolbar to create your storyboard.
  • Open a new presentation in PowerPoint
  • Choose a blank slide
  • The drawing toolbar will be displayed across the bottom of your monitor screen
Draring Toolbar
Note: if you cannot locate the drawing toolbar:
  • Choose View, Toolbars, from the main menu
  • Select Drawing
To create your storyboard, follow the directions in the article Create a Storyboard with Microsoft Word.

Add a Background Pattern

Once you have created your storyboard in PowerPoint, you can add a background pattern of your choice to the slide.
  • Choose Format, Background from the main menu.
  • When the Background dialog box pops up, choose Fill Effects.

Background: Fill Effects

  • When the Fill Effects dialog box appears, choose the Picture tab.

Fill Effects Box

  • Click on Select Picture and browse through your files for your background file.
  • Choose your file and it will appear in the Picture area of the Fill Effects box.
  • Click on OK.
  • You will be returned to the Background dialog box.
  • Click on Apply.

Apply Background

Save Your Storyboard

You will be returned to your slide. Your storyboard will now be floating on your background pattern.

To save your storyboard:

  • Choose File, Save As from the main menu.
  • When the Save As dialog box appears, put a descriptive name in the File Name text box.
  • In the Save as Type text box, choose either GIF Graphics Interchange Format or JPEG File Interchange Format.

Save as Type

  • Click on Save. Don't forgot to note where you  have saved your file.
  • Now you can open a web page file and insert your storyboard image.
