A font is a style or shape of type. A typeface is a family of fonts. For example, the text you are reading now uses the Verdana typeface. Times Roman also comes in a bold font and an italic font. The headlines and subheads on this page use the Comic Sans MS font. Notice how it differs from the Verdana font in the rest of the text. The terms typeface and font are often used interchangeably. |

The default font of Mozilla Composer is Times New Roman; however, current browers are more likely to use a sans serif default font like Arial or Verdana. In general, a sans serif font is easier to read on a monitor. |

To change the font on your web page, go to Format, Font on the Main Menu bar and make your choice from the long list of fonts provided. You can make this choice before you start to type. You can also highlight some type and apply the font of your choice. |

Remember that the viewers browser must support your chosen typeface; otherwise the browser will revert to its default typeface. Remember that if you choose an unusual typeface, the only way to permanently ensure the look of your typeface is to create a graphic file. |
