Create Text and Password Boxes
| The Text Box | The text box form element asks for one line of text, e.g., a name or a street address: | ||
| Example | |||
| To add a text box to your web page using FrontPage 98, you can choose Insert, Form Field, One-Line Text Box from the main menu. | |||
![]() |
| You can also use the One-Line Text Box button on the Forms toolbar. |
| To specify the
properties of the text box, highlight the text box. Choose Edit, Form Field Properties from the main menu or right click on the text box itself. The Text Box Properties dialog box will appear. |
![]() |
| Fill in the
Name of the text box. Use a name that will identify the information being
collected in this part of the form. The name you choose is the term FrontPage 98 will assign to the value of the text box, i.e., the information that the user will enter into the form. Change the default value for Width in characters if you wish. Set the Tab order. The tab order is the order in which users of your form will move through the form by clicking on the Tab key. NOTE: If you place text in the Initial value field, that text will appear in the text box. Click on OK. |
| The Password Box | The password box is similar to the text box except
that the input data appears on the screen as asterisks. To create a password box in FrontPage 98, follow the procedure to create a text box. When you highlight the text box and the Text Box Properties dialog box appears, choose Yes in the Password field. It's probably a good idea to limit the maximum length of a password to 6-8 characters and to set the size of the password box to display only that length. Set the Tab order. The tab order is the order in which users of your form will move through the form by clicking on the Tab key. Click on OK. |
