Forms: Front
Page Express
Create a Form
| Create a Form | Remember that you create a form with the
<FORM></FORM> tag pair. Within the <FORM> tags will go the entire form, i.e., both the questions you ask and the form elements, the box and button spaces where the user will supply responses. |
| There are two ways to create a form in
FrontPage Express. You can choose Insert, Form Field from the main menu. A drop down menu appears. |
| Choose the form element you desire from the menu. FrontPage Express will automatically insert the form element inside a form field. | ||
You can also
insert form elements from the Forms toolbar: |
If the toolbar does not appear on your toolbar menu, choose View, Forms Toolbar from the main menu. The Forms toolbar will appear. |
| When you choose a form element, it will
automatically appear in a form field. The form field will be delineated by a broken line. |
| Insert a Script | To specify the script that you
will use to gather and retrieve the information that you request in a form, right click
anywhere on the form and choose Form Properties from the pop-up menu. The Form Properties dialog box will appear. |
![]() |
| In the Form Handler section, choose the default Custom
ISAPI, NSAPI or CGI Script from the dropdown menu. Click on Settings. The Settings for Custom Form Handler dialog box will appear. |
| In the Action box, specify the
pathname for the location of the CGI script that will process the form. Click on OK. Consult your web page host server administrator for the location of the script. Remember that you must get the permission of your server administrator to place a script on the server. |
| Now you are ready to design the form itself. Remember that all of the text and the form elements that will comprise the form must appear within the form box. |
