Page View
Page View The standard Microsoft Title bar and Menu bar will be at the very top of the screen.

Just below the Menu bar are the Standard toolbar and the Formatting toolbar.

At the very bottom of the page is the tab that tells you which version of the page is being displayed. Page view can be set in three ways:

  • Normal: the view in which you will create your page; this is a WYSIWYG view
  • HTML: the view in which you can look at and edit the HTML code that generates your page.
  • Preview: the view of the page that approximates the way it will look in a browser.

Immediately below this tab is the Status toolbar.  Look at the far right corner to see an estimate in seconds of how long it will take to load your page.

Views Bar At the left side of the screen is the Views bar with shortcuts to the other FrontPage 2000 views.
  • Folders: displays a list of all folders in the current web; you can open a folder to display the list of files within that folder.
  • Reports: summarizes the types of files in your web and lists statistics on hyperlinks, slow-loading files, older files, recently created or modified files, and errors in files.
  • Navigation: displays the navigational structure of the files in the web site.
  • Hyperlinks: displays the hyperlinks from a file in a web site
  • Hyperlinks: displays a list of the broken links in a web site; also displays the list of links FrontPage 98 is unable to check because they point to other web sites.
  • Tasks: displays the list of tasks assigned to be completed within the web site.
Create a New Web To create a new web, choose File, New, Web from the Menu bar.

To create a new blank web site, use the following procedure:

  • Choose Empty Web.
  • Use the drop down box on the right side of the dialog box to choose the drive and directory where you will want to save your web.
  • By default the web will be created in the MyWebs folder on your hard drive.
  • To create the web on a diskette, type the drive and the name of the web in the text box.

Example:   a:\myweb

  • Click on OK.
  • After FrontPage creates the new web, it will display the Folders view of the web.
