The easiest way to order information on a web page is to create a list.

Many web pages contain lists of links organized according to categories.

You can make several different types of lists:

  • An unordered list (such as this one) uses bulleting.
  • An ordered list uses numbers or letters
  • A definition list is used to create a glossary of terms or to add a brief description to each list item.
  • You can create nested lists, i.e., lists within lists. These are especially useful if you want to display an outline on your web page.

An unordered list uses a bullet to indicate the list item.

To create an unordered list in Dreamweaver, type the list, hitting the Enter key every time you want to type a new list item.

Your list will appear in a double-spaced column on the page.

To turn this list into an unordered list, click on  the Unordered List button Unordered List button on the Properties panel.

By default this list will use a bullet for each list item.

By default the list will now be single-spaced.

To double-space the list, add a soft carriage return (Shift + Enter) twice after each list item.

Alternately, you can place your cursor at the point where your list starts, then click on the Unordered List button Unordered List button on the Properties panel.

The text you enter will be in the form of a list. Hit the Enter key to start each new list item.

When you are finished with the list, hit the Enter key twice to return to regular text formatting.

To change the type of  symbol used in an unordered list, highlight your list.

Then select go to Text, List, Properties on the main menu bar. The List Properties dialog box will appear.
