A standard feature of every well-designed web page is the address footer.  The address has two required elements:
  • the date of last revision of the page
  • an email link to the person responsible for the page

The address might also contain:

  • copyright information
  • further contact information such as a telephone or fax number or a mailing address

Here is an example of one of my footers:

As you can see from the example above and from my footer at the bottom of this page, footers often appear smaller in relation to the type size of the page contents themselves.

To format an address footer, first type the contents of the footer.

Remember that if you want to single space the contents of the footer, use a soft carriage return by pressing Shift + Enter on the keyboard.

To add the copyright symbol © to the footer, place your cursor, then select Insert, HTML, Special Characters, Copyright from the main menu bar.

To put a date stamp on the footer, place your cursor. Then select Insert, Date from the main menu bar. The Insert Date dialog box will appear.

Choose your date format; add the day and the time if you want. Check the Update automatically on save box so that the date automatically gets changed every time you work on and save the file.

Once you have the footer looking the way you want it to, decrease the text size by highlighting the entire footer and using the Size dropdown menu on the Properties panel to make the text smaller.
