You can customize your Dreamweaver workspace in a number of ways.

Whatever you do to the Dreamweaver screen, your changes will remain.  When you open Dreamweaver again, your screen will look the way you left it.

If you can't find a toolbar:
  • Choose View from the Menu bar. The toolbars that are already visible  on the workspace will be checked.
  • Click on any additional toolbars you want access to.
  • Click on a check marked toolbar to deselect it.

View Drop Down Menu

Dreamweaver's floating windows are of two types:
  • a panel makes available elements, such as images and snippets of code, that you can insert into your site
  • an inspector changes its display to match the element, such as a section of type or an image, that you  have selected to work on.
You can close the floating windows that display the various panels and inspectors. To close a floating window, click on the x in the colored panel at the top or left of the window

You can rearrange the windows on the screen by grabbing the colored panel on the top or the left and dragging it to a new location.

If you want to restore a window or you can't find a window:

  • Choose Window from the Menu bar. The windows that are currently visible  on the workspace will be checked.
  • Click on any additional windows you want access to.
  • Click on a check-marked window to deselect it.
  • If you want to restore your work space to the way it looked when you first opened Dreamweaver, click on Restore All.

You can choose to view your web page in design view or in code view or both
  • by default Dreamweaver opens in design view, a WYSIWYG editor that displays your page much like it will appear in a browser window
  • you can also work directly in code view to hand code or tweak the html
  • you can choose to display the design and code views simultaneously.
You can modify your view by choosing View from the menu bar and checking Code, Design, or Code and Design

You can also switch views with the buttons on the far left of the toolbar
