Dreamweaver 4:
Save and Preview a Page
| Save a Page | ||
| Save a Web Page | To save a file in FrontPage, click on File, Save As on the main menu bar. The Save As dialog box will appear. | |
In the File name text box
assign a filename to your page. Remember that this filename will
become part of the URL for the page; thus:
Check the Look in text box at the top of the dialog box to be sure that your file is in whatever folder you want it to be in. |
| Preview a Page | Although the Dreamweaver Design view approximates what a
web page will look like in a browser, you should always preview your page
in an actual browser.
Because different browsers, and even different versions of the same browser, often display web pages differently, you should always preview your page in both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. |
| To preview a web page, simply choose File, Preview in Browser
from the main menu.
When you installed Dreamweaver, the software automatically searched for any browsers already available on your computer and added them to its browser list. Thus you should see all of your browsers on the secondary menu display. |
| Choose a browser. Dreamweaver will open your page in that browser. | ||
| Remember: Always
preview your page in both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator.
Always preview your page in a Window Size of 640 x 480 to determine how your page will look on a standard 13" to 15" monitor. |
| If the Preview in
Browser dialog box does not display both Microsoft Internet Explorer and
Netscape Navigator, or if you want to add a number of versions of browsers
to your browser list, click on Edit Browser List button on the
secondary menu.
The Preferences dialog box will appear. The Preview in Browser category will be highlighted. |
| To add a browser, click on the plus sign in the right panel.
The Add Browser dialog box will appear. |
| Assign a name to the new browser.
Click on Browse. Navigate to the browser you wish to add and click on Open. When the browser path name appears in the Name box, click on OK. You will be returned to the Add Browser dialog box. The path name for the new browser will appear in the Application text box. If you wish to designate the new browser as either your primary or your secondary browser, choose the appropriate default check box. Click on OK. |
