Forms: HomeSite

Create a Form
| Create a Form | Remember that you create a form with the
<FORM></FORM> tag pair. Within the <FORM> tags will go the entire form, i.e. both the questions you ask and the box and button spaces where the visitor will supply responses. This area is called the form field. The fill-in blanks are called form elements. |
| To create a form in HomeSite, use the Advanced tab on the speedbar. | ||
| The first two buttons on that tab are the Form action button and the Form element button. | ||
| To create a form field choose the Form action
button on the Advanced tab. The Form Action dialog box will appear. |
| Insert a Script |
| In the Enter Form Action box,
specify the pathname for the location of the CGI script that will process the form. Click on OK. HomeSite will create the form and specify the form action and method.
Reminder: Consult your web page host server administrator for the location of the script. Remember that you must get the permission of your server administrator to place a script on the server. | |
| Now you are ready to design the form itself. Remember that all of the text and the form elements that will comprise the form must appear within the form box. |
