Save and Preview a File

When you want to save a file, choose File, Save As on the main menu bar.  The Save HTML Document dialog box will appear.

Be sure you are in the desired drive and folder, name the file, and click on Save.  The file will automatically be saved as an htm file.
To view an open file, go to Options, View in External Browser or click on the Open in external browser button on the main menu.

If you have not yet specified an external browser for HomeSite to access:
  • Choose Options, Settings from the main menu bar. 
  • The Settings dialog box will appear.
  • Choose the File Location tab

  • In the External Browsers section, click on Add.
  • The Browser dialog box will appear.

  • In the Name area enter the name of your browser.
  • Click on the Open Folder button.
  • Navigate to the location of your browser file and click on the shortcut path.  The pathname will appear in the Location area.
  • Click on OK.

Repeat this process with your second browser.

Remember that for best web page design you should preview all of your pages in both Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Now when you click on the Open in external broswer button, you will get a choice of browsers.

Click on the browser of your choice.  Your file will now open in that browser.

Remember that you must save a file before you can view the changes you  have made to the file. 

If you are viewing a file you have been working on, be sure to click on the Reload or Refresh button on your browser's standard toolbar to see the most recent version of your file.
