After taking her first command, Captain Honor Harrington upstages an admiral during fleet exercises and is exiled to Basilisk Station where she eventually wins over her disgruntled crew with her integrity and effectiveness in policing a vital jump point.

After uncovering a plot to foment a native rebellion on the local planet, Harrington, against heavy odds, destroys a disguised Haven warship and averts a planned takeover of the critical jump point.
