Style Manual

As I work on this site, I have determined a style that I prefer in web sites. I have implemented some of these elements in my site:

  • navigation bar on bottom of every page
  • text to the right
  • Verdana font face for small text such as nav buttons
  • Times New Roman for body text
  • clickable images for nav bar
  • a link to "home" on every page.

For my site I chose to use tables to layout format on the pages.

The nav bar and header style are the same on every page in the site.

The nav buttons only change when the user enters the cover page of that area--in that case the rollover is disabled. I like the hover button effect, since it gives two images in the space alloted for one. It allows a bit more information to the viewer about the destination of the link. They don't take much memory and load fast, so they add a bit of pizzaz without slowing down the user.

Color scheme is very plain. I do not want to detract from the substance of my site. I created a .gif file that I am using for background interest. The leaves echo the color on the section button. However, in order to keep the background from becoming a big distraction, I had to wash out the color of the background leaves to a greater degree
