Soil Testing

Have you ever wondered why a certain part of your garden just won't grow? It could be a problem with the soil.

The Virginia Cooperative Extension service will do an extensive soil analysis for $7. The report will tell you which nutrients (including nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium) and in what amounts your lawn or garden needs.

Following the Extension office's guidelines has two benefits:

  • you save money, and
  • you help reduce non-point run-off pollution, one of the biggest threats to the Chesapeake Bay.
