Born 1977 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Majored in philosophy and cognitive psychology at Ohio State University. Has worked as a colorist for comic book publishers and self-published a series called Sequential.

Hornschemeier currently lives in Chicago.

In an interview in 2004, Hornschemeier told Julie Lain of The Phoenix:

I got a degree in philosophy, the philosophy of modern science. I think that a lot of my studies were influenced by Catholicism.
