WHAT IS THE WRITING CENTER? 
Our primary service is to provide feedback to writers.  Our mission is to provide a comfortable environment where you can work to become more confident in your own writing.  To do this, we will ask you many questions and offer some input.  We will not edit your papers.   We invite you to read more about:

• what to expect and what not to expect from the Writing Center 

• tips for a productive session in the Writing Center

APPOINTMENTS: 
We recommend contacting us in advance so that we can be sure to schedule time for you.  You may call or come by to make an appointment for a half hour session.  Please be sure to read our appointment rules.

COMPUTERS: 
We have 9 computers with both Microsoft Word 97 and Corel WordPerfect 8, as well as an array of other software, such as Excel and Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing.  All of the machines are connected to the Internet.  NVCC students may use them to easily access campus e-mail accounts.  We also offer free printing facilities, a scanner, and some minimal technical support.  The computers are available for student use during our advertised hours.  Please be sure to bring your own disk if you want to save your work.

IS THAT ALL YOU DO?
Of course not!  We offer an array of other goods and services to assist you with your writing including:

a library of relevant books to assist you in your writing a collection of handouts that you may take with you a grammar hotline for short questions about grammar, style, and usage an online writing lab (under construction) a giant, inflatable dictionary a big, comfy couch to rest your weary head
