Ecological science fiction focuses on the environment, attempts to protect it, and the consequences of destroying it. Much ecological science fiction deals with the colonization of other worlds and the human impact on the enviroment of those other worlds. |

Some of these stories overlap with stories of post-apocalyptic Earth because the disaster is the result of the destruction of the environment. Some of these stories deal with the terraforming of other planets to give them an Earth-like environment. |
