| Definition | |
| Immersive worlds are fantasy worlds that simply exist, with no reference to the real world. They are populated by creatures, both sentient and non-sentient, who exist only in such immersive worlds. These worlds have their own internal logic though the rules by which the world operates have no connection to science as we know it. | |
| Themes and Motifs | |
| The immersive world is a key ingredient of high fantasy. Generally there are parallels between the fantasy world and the world as we know it. | |
| Key Works and Figures | |
| The definitive immersive fantasy world is J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle Earth. | |
