Only the two robots C-3P0 (Anthony Daniels) and R2-D2 (Kenny Baker) were intended to appear in all 9 projected films.

There are no plans to film the 3rd and final trilogy.

Lucas started with the first episode of the middle trilogy because he thought it would be the strongest story to attract an audience. The key characters in this trilogy are:

The Prequel Trilogy
The Phantom Menace Attack of the Clones Revenge of the Sith

The first 3 episodes of the saga tell the story of the discovery, rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker as he learns the power of the Force and eventually turns to the Dark Side and becomes Darth Vader. The key characters in this trilogy are:

  • Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor)
  • Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd and Hayden Christensen)
  • Queen Amidala (Natalie Portman)
  • Yoda (voice of Frank Oz)
  • Senator Palpatine/the Emperor (Ian McDiarmid)
  • Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson)

All three episodes were written and directed by George Lucas
