Communications & Humanities

Hello and welcome.

The folds in the weave of relationships fascinate some of us.

What influences our interpersonal relationships? What influences the relationships in internationalized and diverse societies? What influences our relationship with ourselves and with Nature?

Contributing to the humanitarian discourse is a philosophical and ethical pursuit in the human experience. In Judeo-Christian literature, there is a Proverb that admonishes us to open our mouths and speak up for the oppressed. This perspective is also reflected the preamble to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, for pursuing the inherent dignity and the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family [through] freedom, justice and peace in the world. Making intelligent contributions to the global humanitarian discourse allows me to do precisely that. I have a keen interest in the humanities, communications and social justice. There are several languages that I utilize in pursuit of this goal.

I use static visual arts to explain gender and communication.

Music is another universal language that I use. I am a jazz vocalist.

Several moons ago, I began to address large audiences via letters to the editor. Eventually, I worked for several years as a freelance journalist for hardcopy. And then I embarked on learning the newest language that forever changed my communication: online. I began to write for ezines.

I eagerly search for, create and develop forums in which those of us who choose can make positive contributions to the public dialogue. Freedom of speech is one of the most precious rights, and it is through competent communicating that we best define who we are. Whether or not we formally research and study communications, we are all students in the discipline. The sensei is our struggle.

I teach communications, the humanities and will always write. It is my hope that this website will help give you a basic knowledge of the struggle to become competent, skilled communicators in your professional, personal and civic lives.
