Arc 243- Environmental Systems ( 4 credit hours )

Text: Mechanical And Electrical Systems in Buildings by Stein and Reynolds

Objectives: To familiarize students with mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in buildings. Students will study the general physical principles underlying the design of these systems. They will be made aware of the function of each system component and their appropriate use. Each student will be required to make two field observations of mechanical and electrical systems resulting in field reports and slide illustrated oral presentations.

Project presentations will be the result of a site visit . Presentations will include a description of the system, a diagram of the system, and 24 photographic slides of the system ( using Ektachrome or Elitechrome or Fujichrome film ) .

Evaluation- HVAC Section will count 2/3 of final grade. Electrical and Plumbing 1/3.

( 50% for exams and 50% presentations)

More than two absences will result in a grade reduction.
