HumWeb is a listserv, i.e., an e-mail discussion forum, that was started in April 1998 as part of a National Endowment for the Humanities Focus Study Grant entitled "Teaching the Humanities in a World Wide Web Environment" awarded to Northern Virginia Community College.
Currently the original faculty participants in the NEH grant are in the process of designing an interdisciplinary humanities web site that we envision will link online courses and course modules in a way that will allow humanities faculty to draw on the expertise of colleagues in a variety of disciplines as they teach their own courses. We are using this list serv primarily as a tool to help us develop this humanities web site.
Our secondary purpose is to provide a general discussion forum for all community college faculty and especially humanities faculty to share their experiences of using the World Wide Web in their teaching.
HumWeb is a closed listserv; in other words the listserv owner must approve all subscription requests. The listserv is closed primarily to prevent members from receiving junk mail through the list.
