Dogwood, an experimental virtual learning environment, is entering its
fourth year at NVCC. We have received grant funding from the Information Technology Committee (ITC) to expand our site,
so we are looking for faculty and staff who want to participate in this year's project. Each participant will receive a stipend of $300 for
participating in the Dogwood project in the spring of 2001.
Each participant should have already created a web site that offers
substantial content on a single subject. This site should be suitable for further development and revision before becoming available
through the Dogwood site for shared use by faculty and students. Although the project may not be a web course, it may be a
resource site for a web course Some examples of previous projects can be seen on the Dogwood site under web sites.
Each participant will attend a half day institute from 1-4 pm on Friday, January 26, 2001. At this institute
participants will be introduced to the Dogwood Project and provided with information intended to improve web design and usability. During
the spring, participants will submit their web sites to a peer review process; participate in the review of other sites; revise their sites
based on the peer review and in consultation with a mentor; and attend a final presentation session from 1-4 pm on Friday, April 20,
2001. At this session each will present a short paper demonstrating how and why their web sites have changed in the course of
the project.

overall project, provide a link to the project as it now appears on the web, give a brief background of your experience working on the
web, and express your willingness to participate in the peer review process.
We encourage people to submit proposals ASAP but will accept them
as late as January 5, 2001.
