Core Skills ESL is a part-time program. Students take one or two classes in the program, two and a half hours or more per week. Click on the campus name below to learn more about the hours and course length of Core Skills classes at the campus of your choice.

Students earn continuing Education Units (CEUs) for their study in Core Skills ESL. One CEU equals 10 hours of class. Most Core Skills courses range from 30 hours per semester (3.0 CEUs) to 60 hours per semester (6.0 CEUs).

Au pairs on J visas should note that if they need six academic credits, they must register for 8.0 CEUs.

The tuition for Core Skills courses is the same for all students, whether they are permanent residents of the U.S. or are here on a visa. Tuition is based on the number of CEUs awarded for the Core Skills course and might range from $235 for 3.0 CEUs to $425 for 6.0 CEUs.

Textbooks are required at every Core Skills level. Textbooks are available in the campus bookstores. The cost of textbooks for a Core Skills ESL class will vary.

The ACLI Core Skills courses are offered at each of the campuses and at some other sites throughout Northern Virginia.
