Backgrounds

By default, the background of every slide will be white. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a white background. White backgrounds offer plenty of contrast with dark writing so they are easier to read. They are also easier to print out. Slides with colored backgrounds use up large amounts of toner when you print them out, (unless you specify that you would like the slide to print in black and wite. See Print Options for more details on how to do this.)

Of course, adding a background to a slide can bring more excitement and richness to a presentation, so you may decide that it is worth the time to create something special for your presentation. When you are slecting or creating a background, remember to maintain adequate contrast between the background and the color of the text. Don't let yourself get carried away by the plethora of available colors and designs either. Your backgrounds shouls enhance your message- not distract people from it.
