Film Creation Workshop
August 1 & 2, 2011

10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
AN - CN 219
Professor Amy Gilley will offer a 2-day workshop to teach NOVA faculty basic film production techniques for future use in classroom projects.

The use of film in the classroom has become an increasingly popular both as a means for subject matter and a tool for faculty to present lectures or students to present material.

Film is both a visual art and a form of storytelling. Like any art form, learning and practicing the basic techniques will produce a richer art, and a deeper storytelling. It will also provide the instructor with an introduction to film, which can be used when discussing a film used in the class for study or example.

The course will cover basic film grammar, basic composition for the camera, and basic editing techniques.

Participants will learn the basics of film production by analyzing and preparing and producing a short script. Participants will also have an opportunity to create and develop class exercises and assignments for future classes.

This workshop is co-sponsored by the Annandale Campus Liberal Arts Division and CETL. It is free to NOVA faculty.

For more information, contact Amy Gilley.
