2nd All Faculty and Staff Student Engagement Symposium
Date: March 30, 2012
Place: CE Forum, Annandale Campus
The 2nd All Faculty and Staff Student Engagement Symposium, sponsored by Achieving the Dream (ATD), was held on March 30, 2012. Attended by 140 faculty, staff and students, the symposium provided an opportunity for participants to discuss tips for engaging students. Thirty faculty and staff served as “presenters” and informally shared their ideas about engaging students on the first day of class, engaging students through tutoring and advising, and maintaining student interest throughout the semester. The highlight of the event was hearing the student perspective from the 20 students who participated. The symposium is one of the many activities of NOVA’s ATD initiative. The goal of ATD’s professional development is to encourage a college-wide conversation about factors involved in student success.
