Using Blogs and Wikis

Access to online communication is essential. Two free, easy-to-use tools for online communication are blogs and wikis.

What is a Blog?

  • An easily created, updateable website that allows an author or authors to publish instantly to the Internet from any Internet connection without using Web editor software.
  • Not built on static chunks of content.
  • Engages readers with ideas, questions and links.

How do I get started?

  • Sign up for a free and easy- to-use blog at Blogger.
  • Click the Take a Tour button for an overview.
  • Click the orange arrow and follow the step-by-step directions.
  • Create as many blogs as you want with levels of privacy.

What is a Wiki?

  • A website where anyone can edit anything anytime without using Web editor software.
  • Use “edit page” link to add content to website.
  • Wikipedia.org is an example.
