Who We Are and What We Do

NOVA's Public Information Officers strive to maintain the College’s image and increase public awareness of the College. They accomplish this by coordinating all news released by NOVA and making sure it adheres to the College’s standards.

The Public Information Office is located on the second floor of the Brault Building on the Annandale Campus.

All press releases concerning the College are written and distributed by the Public Information Office. No members of NOVA faculty or staff have the authority to issue press releases. NOVA’s policy on Publicity and Media Relations is detailed in Section 7.4100 of the Faculty Handbook.

Are you hosting an upcoming conference or other event? Did you win an award? Are your student(s) doing something unusual?

Please contact the Public Information Office whenever you have news to share. To make it easy, we created a simple form. The information you provide will be considered for use in press releases, media advisories, public service announcements and event listings in the local media.

Media Relations


microphoneThe Public Information Office is the official source of NOVA information for the media.

All calls from the media should initially be directed to the Public Information Office at 703.323.3196, so one of the Public Information Officers can determine the best way to fulfill a reporter’s request.

If you are contacted directly by a reporter, faculty or staff as an expert in your field, please inform the Public Information Office so responses can be coordinated and any resulting media mentions can be monitored.

Crisis Communications


loudspeakers The Public Information Office also coordinates media relations and college-wide communications during an emergency in conjunction with NOVA’s emergency management team.

Intercom


newspaper NOVA’s employee newsletter, Intercom, is published every Friday during the fall and spring semesters, and every other week during the summer session.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to share news with their colleagues by emailing articles and photos to the Intercom editor, Alison Nooks. Learn more about the Intercom submission guidelines.

student events The News & Events Web page is a great source for information about NOVA. All College press releases and media alerts are posted on this site.
