About e-Services
Human Resources uses a variety of Information Management Systems to serve employees at NOVA; each one has different capabilities and purposes.
Human Resources Management System: HRMS
In the fall of 2011 the VCCS implemented a Human Resources Management System (HRMS) to facilitate and improve workflow for major HR processes and functions performed by all VCCS colleges and the System Office, including time and leave reporting.
All full-time employees, P-14/wage and student employees must record hours worked and/or leave request in the HRMS.
HRMS is part of the PeopleSoft System NOVA currently uses for the Student Information System (SIS) and the Administrative Information System (AIS).
NOVA is transitioning to the HRMS. However, supervisors will need to continue to use the Denosys’ Manager Workbench until further notice by Human Resources.
For more information about the HRMS please view the tutorials below.
Manager Workbench: Denosys
Denosys is currently used in conjunction with HRMS to enter time and leave, for EWP/NOV creations and modifications in the Manager Workbench and provides employee information such as state IDs.
Human Resources will be phasing out Denosys as the processes are fully implemented in HRMS and NATS. Until notified by HR, NOVA employees (or faculty and staff) should continue to use Denosys.
For more information about Denosys please view the tutorials below.
NOVA Applicant Tracking System: NATS
NATS is part of the PeopleAdmin system and is used for posting positions available at NOVA, evaluating candidates, and creating and modifying Position Descriptions. The most recent addition to the Information Management Systems is the NOVA Applicant Tracking System (NATS). NATS includes a public site and a Management Portal.
HR plans to expand the current modules within NATS during this year. Among other processes, NOVA will begin to use NATS to streamline the OnBoarding process at the College.
Until further notice, during the transition phase, supervisors at NOVA will continue to use Denosys for some of the HR personnel processes.
For more information about NATS or to sign up for an upcoming NATS training visit Job Search and Application through NATS and NATS Management Portal page.
The NOVA Intranet: Sharepoint
The NOVA Intranet is an internal network managed by IT intended for NOVA faculty and staff for sharing information. The Human Resources SharePoint page contains information intended for internal NOVA use only, such as documents, important HR dates and other information available to faculty and staff at NOVA. Human Resources will provide automation services for various processes currently used within the department.
NOVA's Department of Human Resources is dedicated to helping create the optimal work environment for our highly qualified and diverse workforce. The HR Department serves all six campuses of Northern Virginia Community College. The office is divided into four service area teams to better serve our employees: Employee Services, Talent Management, Professional Training and Development, and Employee Relations.
