Using InfoMarks

by Agatha Taormina

InfoMarks are links to articles available through online subscription databases published by the Thomson Gale Group.

I use InfoMarks to provide students with supplemental articles from newspapers, magazines, and journals. I also use InfoMarks to provide students with Mark Lists of selected articles on a particular topic.

You can see how I use InfoMarks on my Novels web site by going to the InfoMark list in my reading guide for the novel Atonement by Ian McEwan. Note that I supply to my students a link to a page informing them of the nature and use of InfoMarks.

Registered students, faculty, and staff affiliated with colleges and universities (including NVCC) that participate in the Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA) are eligible to view these articles.

If you click on an InfoMark link from a networked NVCC computer workstation, you will be taken directly to the article being linked to.

When you click on an InfoMark link from an off-campus Internet connection, you will be taken to the Virginia Community College System Electronic Library Services Gateway Off-Campus Logon Page.

If you do not know your UserID and Password, scroll down the page to see instructions on how to determine how to log on. Once you log on, you will be taken directly to the article being linked to.

To use InfoMarks yourself, access the subscription database of your choice through any campus library home page and click on the InfoMarks logo InfoMark logo for directions on how to copy the URL of the article you wish to make available.
