Registration
Registration is continuous. You have several registration options: 1) the online shopping cart on the continuing education web page, NovaConnect, or simply contact the continuing education office for assistance. Registering early may prevent the disappointment of a cancelled or closed class.

To register, you must complete a registration form and pay for your course prior to its starting date. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and remains open until the class maximum is met. In the event a class is completely enrolled, we may add another section.

Mail Registration
Complete and mail the registration form along with your check, money order (payable to NVCC) or credit card information (MasterCard and VISA only) to the appropriate campus. Be sure to include your social security number and birth date (required for course registration), your address, and your daytime and evening telephone numbers. If you refuse to use your social security number, the college will assign you an identification number. However, you will not be eligible to receive Lifelong Learning or other educational tax credits.

Third Party Payment
If a student's tuition is to be paid by a third party (employer, government agency, foreign embassy, etc.), the student must provide a letter of authorization or purchase order from the third party at the time of registration, with the understanding that the student accepts responsibility for full payment of the tuition if the agency does not. A student may not register using one form of payment and then switch to third party payment for that class at a later date.

Refund and Cancelled Classes
Be sure to include on your registration form an accurate, complete address and daytime and evening telephone numbers. This information will insure that you receive prompt notification of course changes and cancellations. In the unlikely event that your course is cancelled, you will be notified by telephone and automatically receive a full refund in the mail. If you are unable to attend a course that has not been cancelled, you are eligible to receive a full refund if you notify the office a minimum of 4 working days before the starting date of the first scheduled class meeting. There will be no refund after this time. This notification can be made by telephone, in person, or by fax, during regular office hours only. All refunds, except credit card payments, are sent from Richmond within six to eight weeks. Credit card refunds will appear on your statement.

Accommodations for the Persons with Disabilities
Northern Virginia Community College is committed to providing an accessible education and a supportive learning environment for all students. Students with disabilities who require special accommodations must contact Disabled Student Services in order to receive an Accommodations Packet. This packet should be returned at least four weeks in advance of the class start date. All information will be kept confidential.

Senior Citizens' Registration
Residents of Virginia who are 60 years of age or older are welcome to participate tuition-free in most non-credit courses, on a space-available basis as determined by the College. Such students are limited to three courses per semester including any credit course(s) that they may be auditing. Students should present proof of age and fill out a Senior Citizen Certification of Eligibility for Free Tuition form, which may be obtained from the Office of Continuing Education. Senior Citizens must submit the necessary form and call one working day before the class meets to determine if space is available. In courses with limited space and large demand, the order in which telephone calls are received on that day determines admission to the course. To guarantee a place in a class, payment with registration is required. A student who has already made payment for a course may not reverse that registration to free tuition later.
