Reston Center History

Since the late 1980’s the Loudoun Campus of Northern Virginia Community College has offered both credit and non-credit workforce development classes in the Reston community. For over a decade, the campus offered credit and non-credit classes in South Lakes High School and in its Reston Technology Training Center at 11260 Roger Bacon Drive. In the summer 2003, the campus expanded its operation at Roger Bacon to include five computer labs and seven general purpose classrooms.

Responding to the regional demand for higher education, career, and workforce training, the campus acquired additional laboratory and classroom space in Reston. Opening in spring 2006, Northern Virginia Community College will offer classes at a second facility at 1831 Wiehle Ave., level 3—less than a block from its Roger Bacon location.

The Reston Center comprises both its Wiehle Ave. and Roger Bacon sites and houses 18 general purpose classrooms, 12 computer labs, and a large multi-purpose room available for seminars and training programs. The administrative offices for the Reston Center are located at 1831 Wiehle Ave.
