The MEC Receiving and Distribution Center is open from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM daily Monday – Friday. The following links will provide helpful information for many of the services offered.

For any questions regarding mail processing or receiving and shipping a package, please call the information center at 703-822-6507 (from off-campus locations) or 6-6507 from within campuses.

USPS First Class Mail Supplies for sending Certified Mail are available in the MEC Distribution Center. Please ensure that the sender's name and department are on the envelope, the Certified label, and the return receipt. USPS picks up between 12:00 noon and 2:00 pm. USPS Express Mail and Priority Mail Forms and envelopes for these services are available in the Distribution Center. USPS Express Mail and USPS Priority Mail that is received in the Distribution Center and processed before noon will go out that day. After 12:00 noon sender should call the USPS for a special pick up or these packages may be dropped off at any United Sates Post Office. 1-800-ASK-USPS

UPS Ground All UPS ground shipments are processed by NVCC Central Receiving and Distribution Services in Annandale. Sender should prepare package for shipment and deliver to MEC Distribution Center (room 105) before 12:00 noon. UPS Ground shipments will be couriered to NVCC Central Receiving and Distribution Services that afternoon and picked up by UPS the following business day. 1-800 PICK UPS

UPS Next Day Air Sender should prepare package for shipment. UPS shipping supplies and labels are available in the MEC Distribution Center. All shipping labels must be printed clearly with sender's name and Department. Sender must call UPS to schedule package pickup from sender's office unless other arrangements are made in advance with the MEC Distribution Center. 1-800 PICK UPS

Incoming Mail and Packages

Mail is delivered by the USPS daily. Monday-Friday between the hours of 12:00pm and 2:00pm. The mail is sorted and is ready to be picked up by 3:00pm.

All packages, parcels, and equipment must be signed for.

Campus Van Reservations

Faculty, Staff or Student Activities representatives needing transportation to meetings, conferences, conventions, or other business related activities may request the use of the Campus van by calling, 703-822-6507, or emailing Alemu Befekadu at mailto:abefekadu@nvcc.edu to make a reservation. Individuals using the Campus van will receive key, a gas card as well as instructions how to refuel and other pertinent information for your trip.

The following information is required for reservations:

Name and telephone number of driver/responsible party
Campus department/division and budget account code for associated costs
Date(s) needed
Destination
Purpose of trip
Return date and time.

Campus Inventory

Items received by the Center that have a dollar value of $1000.00 or more are tagged for inventory purposes. The individual(s) placing orders for such items are requested to furnish the necessary information by email or hard copy of the purchase order to the center. Individuals who order equipment using a credit card that has a value of $1,000 or greater must notify the Center for inventory and tagging purposes.
