Recruiting a 21st Century Faculty for Northern Virginia Community College

Northern Virginia Community College is actively seeking qualified part-time faculty (in a broad range of transfer disciplines and also career/technical disciplines), to teach.  NOVA has six campuses: Alexandria , Annandale, Loudoun, Manassas, Woodbridge, Medical Education Campus (in Springfield), and two new centers:  Reston and Arlington.

The openings are listed below by discipline, and under the discipline you will find the campuses with current openings, and any additional information about the various openings that is available.  The positions are open until filled, however, the committees will begin their initial review of applications soon, and you are encouraged to get your completed application submitted by 5 p.m. April 21, 2008.


The general starting salary range for these positions is between $730 and $862 per credit hour. The specific salary for each position will be calculated based on the selected individual's academic preparation and experience.

CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES

ESL Instructors, Academy for Culture and Language, Manassas/Woodbridge Campus Part-time.  

Teach day, evening and Saturday ESL classes including reading and writing, speaking and listening at all levels. Required: Master’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or related field and ability to work in supportive, collaborative environment. Candidates for Master’s may also be considered. Prior teaching experience is essential. Foreign Language Instructors, Academy for Culture and Language, Manassas/Woodbridge Campus Part-time.

American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS and PALS Instructors Springfield Medical Education Campus Part-time:

Per class (contracted) instructors needed for AHA CTC ACLS and PALS (and recertification) classes held at the NOVA Medical Education and Arlington campuses. Required: current, valid certification card as ACLS and/or PALS Instructor, current/valid Provider card(s) in each discipline taught. Documented experience instructing ACLS/PALS highly desired; also medical background/experience (nursing, EMS, respiratory, physicians). Preference given to candidates with strong professional background in medical and/or instructional fields. NOVA AHA CTC compensates instructors at $25 per hour and guarantees 8 hours compensation per day for all ACLS and PALS instruction. Billing & Coding instructors needed to teach part-time at either the Springfield Campus or the Arlington Center.  Instructors are needed for both day and evening classes.  Must have knowledge of medisoft for full semester course or solid knowledge of billing and coding for our fundamentals course. Medical Transcriptionist instructor needed to teach part-time days or evenings at the Springfield Campus or the Arlington Center.  Must have experience in medical terminology and transcription. Instructors, Springfield Medical Education Campus Part time.

RNs needed for teaching courses for Clinical Technicians. 

RNs needed for teaching courses for Clinical Technicians.  Must have skills in starting IVs, foley catheter insertion, wound care, suctioning and trach care, 12 lead EKG, sterile technique and drawing blood.  Salary based on education and experience.  Must have current nursing license. Courses run throughout the year.  Requires 1 or 2 full days a week.

LPNs and RNs needed to teach CNA course didactic and skills both evenings or days.  Must have long term care experience.  Must have current nursing license.  Courses run throughout the year

PHLEBOTOMISTS needed for teaching POCT (Point of Care) and Phlebotomy for the office professional.  Must be current in lab skills.  Courses run throughout the year in the evenings and/or Saturdays.

RADIOGRAPHERS/RADIOLOGY TECHS needed to teach Limited Radiography at our campus.  This is a one semester course of 8-12 hrs a week for 8 to 12 weeks.  Must be currently certified and licensed.
