A goal of NVCC is that each qualified student have an equal opportunity to pursue a college education regardless of the presence or absence of a disability. To reach that goal, NVCC will make reasonable accommodations in providing the course, program and building modifications, and auxiliary services that are necessary to assure equal access. NVCC assumes that if you are a student with a disability, you will assist the College in identifying needed resources and possible agency sources. If you require any special services or accommodations, you should contact the NVCC Counselor for Students With Disabilities at the campus of your choice at least two weeks prior to the beginning of classes. To qualify for these services, you must provide clear and specific evidence that a qualified professional has established a formal diagnosis of a disability. Except in certain cases, the documentation can be no older than three (3) years. All information obtained in the diagnostic and medical reports will be maintained and used in accordance with applicable confidentiality requirements. College policy reclassifies any student not enrolled for three full years as inactive. Records of inactive students will not be maintained.  Questions of compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, or the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), should be addressed to the Director of Affirmative Action/Minority and Legal Affairs. Handicapped parking spaces are available at each campus. A handicapped permit issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles of any state or the District of Columbia is required. The College does not issue handicapped parking permits. Each campus and Extended Learning Institute has identified one or more staff members to assist you. Areas of assistance include counseling, registration, special academic needs, and liasion with area rehabilitative service agencies.
